Leo Strauss on Nietzsche


A one-day conference to mark the publication by the University Chicago Press of Leo Strauss on Nietzsche’s Zarathustra, edited by Richard Velkley. This is the first volume in a series of transcripts of Leo Strauss’s courses to be published by the Press. Speakers will include Richard Velkley (Tulane University), Mark Blitz (Claremont-McKenna College), Paul Franco (Bowdoin College), and Robert Pippin (University of Chicago).


The text will be made available to registered conference attendees through the University of Chicago Press. After you register, the Press will be in touch with you.


The conference will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Ida Noyes Hall, third floor theater, at 1212 E. 59th Street, Chicago, Illinois. The event will begin at 10:00 am and conclude by 4:30pm.

The transcripts of Strauss's courses on Plato's Laws (1959 and 1971-71), edited by Lorraine Pangle, and Apology and Crito (1966), edited by Davaid Janssens are now available. All of the courses now available in PDF format will be shortly added to the digital collection (March 2017).
