Leo Strauss on Nietzsche

A one-day conference to mark the publication by the University Chicago Press of Leo Strauss on Nietzsche’s Zarathustra, edited by Richard Velkley. This is the first volume in a series of transcripts of Leo Strauss’s courses to be published by the Press. The speakers are Richard Velkley (Tulane University), Mark Blitz (Claremont-McKenna College), Paul Franco (Bowdoin College), and Robert Pippin (University of Chicago).

An e-book will be made available for purchase to registered conference attendees through the University of Chicago Press. After you register, the Press will be in touch with you. Also note the transcripts of two of Strauss's courses on Nietzsche that are already available for download from our website, and Strauss's one publication on Nietzsche : "Note on the Plan of Nietzsche's Beyond Good and Evil," that appeared in the winter 1973 issue of Interpretation, which is available on that journal's website: http://www.interpretationjournal.com/backissues.php.

The conference will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Ida Noyes Hall, third floor theater, at 1212 E. 59th Street, Chicago, Illinois. There will be two panels, one from 10:00-12:00 and the second from 2:00-4:30.

The conference is made possible by a gift from Richard Schiffrin.
